Farewell Young Scout

by Suzanne A. Lentchner

When an adult wears the Scout uniform, he [she] becomes a part
Of our Scouting Family and every Scouter’s heart.

It does not really matter if he’s in our Troop [Pack] or yours,
Scouting is one Fam’ly, from our borders to our shores.

A life of Leadership and Service, is the life that Scouters lead,
They’re always there to lend a hand when others are in need.

When Scouters do their good deeds, our hearts all fill with Pride,
And all our hearts are broken when we hear a Scouter died.

We never know just where or when, or whom God next will choose
It hurts the most when it’s someone we’re not prepared to lose.

For those of us left here on Earth, it’s hard to understand,
But it’s not for us to question, the Wisdom of His plan.

Though we may never understand why this happened, or how,
We’ll say “Farewell Fellow Scouter, we will surely miss you now.”

Leader Of Scouts

by Mark Gregory

Leader of scouts, by lake and glen,
You taught us to be kind to men.
Nature’s beauty, you helped us see,
In every flower, leaf, and tree.

In fields we roamed, by rivers clear,
With every season, you drew us near.
The mountains grand, the valleys low,
Scouting helped us learn and grow.

Your gentle spirit, calm and wise,
Beneath the open, endless skies,
Inspired us all to ‘be prepared’
To ‘do our best’ and always care.

Though now you’ve gone, your presence stays,
In each sunrise’s golden blaze.
In every rustling, whispering breeze,
In every forest’s ancient trees.

For in your love of nature’s grace,
You have left an indelible trace.
A legacy of wonder, free,
In every Scout, you’ll always be.

Scout Vespers

Author Unknown

Softly falls the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each Scout should ask,
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honour bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done, and have I dared
Everything to Be Prepared?”

On my honour I’ll do my best
To do my duty to God.
On my honour I’ll do my best
To serve my country as I may.
On my honour I’ll do my best
To do a good turn each day.
To keep my body strengthened.
To keep my mind awakened.
To follow paths of righteousness.
On my honour, I’ll do my best.

(Funny) Scout Vespers

Author Unknown

Softly falls the rain today
As our campsite floats away,
Silently each Scout should ask,
Have I brought my scuba mask?
Have I tied my tent flaps down,
Learned to swim so I don’t drown,
Have I done and will I try,
Everything to keep me dry?
