Blessed Are The Weird

by Jacob Nordby

Blessed are the weird people
—poets, misfits, writers, mystics
heretics, painters & troubadours—
for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.
Blessed are those who embrace the intensity of life’s pain and pleasure,
for they shall be rewarded with uncommon ecstasy.
Blessed are ye who see beauty in ugliness,
for you shall transform our vision of how the world might be.
Blessed are the bold and whimsical,
for their imagination shatters ancient boundaries of fear for us all.
Blessed are ye who are mocked for unbridled expression of love in all its forms,
because your kind of crazy is exactly that freedom for which the world is unconsciously begging.
Blessed are those who have endured breaking by life,
for they are the resplendent cracks through which the light shines.

Funeral For A Rebel

by Carl Dunford

When I die
please don’t wear black
never thought much of that.
The music I want to play
is Sid Vicious’ version–
My Way.

I have been a rebel all my life
why should I change when I die?
I want my family and friends
to dance away–
this is my last day.

No graveyard for me;
don’t need a stone to
show my name.
Cremated is what
I want.
My ashes please don’t spread–
put them in an egg timer instead.

I swore when I was alive
that was the way to be.
Saturday’s child works hard
for his living
It would be the same
when I die.

It makes sense to me
for my ashes to be used
this way.
Not the usual funeral may be
but I was a rebel and so
shall it be.

Here’s To The Crazy Ones

by Rob Siltanen

Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

The Rebel

by Mari Evans

When I
die
I’m sure
I will have a
Big Funeral…

Curiosity
seekers…
coming to see
if I
am really
Dead…
or just
trying to make
Trouble…
