Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep (Doughnut Edition)

adapted from the original by Mark Gregory, originally by Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I’m the glaze on your sweet delight,
The morning treat in the sunrise light.
I am the warmth of the freshly fried dough,
The powdered sugar in winter’s snow.

I am the sprinkles, the frosting bright,
The circle of joy that helps you feel right.
When laughter rises in a doughnut queue,
Know that I am there with you.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Doughnut Lover

by Tracey Schoales

There’s something about a doughnut you’ll find,
It conjures up sweet thoughts in your mind.
The original one filled with delicious jam,
Ringed? maybe custard? oozing into your hand.
The icing on top could be chocolate or coffee,
Lemon, some sprinkles or maybe some toffee.

There’s all sorts to choose from, which one shall I pick?
You could choose a different one every day of the week,
Marks and Spencer’s, Greggs or Krispy Kreme,
I can see them all now, every one just a dream.
Biting into the softness, the sugary taste,
Licking lips and fingers to ensure there’s no waste.

A doughnut brings pleasure to everyone’s days,
They’re essential to life whatever your ways.
Except for the calories that go straight to the waist.
Oh…who cares just think of the taste!
Life is for living and a doughnut a day,
Lifts the spirits no end, so bring me a tray!

Sugar Coma

by Elysabeth Faslund

Donuts in the morning
Donuts in the evening
Donuts at suppertime
Be my awful sugar

Coma, but I love you
All the time.
Put I.V.s around me
And swear by Krispy
Kreme

You’ll be there forever
In a sugar frosted dream!
Donuts are a danger
Donuts do a harm

But, I’ll be there this
Morning
For another bag of
Warm, ooey, gooey

I.V. coma warning alarm!

Good Morning!
