Funerals can truly be augmented by a poem that is apt and fitting for the person you have just lost. The following list of funeral poems about caving are perfect for those who loved exploring caves and caverns underground.

The Brightest Cave
Author Unknown
If I’d met her in a cave
in the dark
where no light ever lived
she would still be the brightest thing I’d ever seen
for it aways was the way she was
never the way she looked
that made her so beautiful to me
and beautiful she was
though I never let it blind me
for it was only when I closed my eyes
and stood in that darkest cave
that she truly blinded me
with beauty.
Cave of Wonders
by Nikki Pruitt
Cave of wonders
caverns so deep
through vast rooms I wander
so many secrets to keep.
The path tightens,
the corridors wind and weave
mysterious sounds frighten
seeing the magic others see.
Deeper down I go
so unknown steps below
exploring further than anyone’s been
there seems to be no end.
Stalactites hang from above
their beauty alone is enough
walls covered in draperies
millions of years of Earth’s memories.
Deep pools of blue
with enchanting emerald green hues
waters untouched by any hand
stoney beaches with no sand.
Crystals form almost uniform
where many cave creatures are born
flowing walls made of stone
beautiful formations have grown.
With my lantern I decide not to go deeper
as I stand at the doorway
feeling much like a gatekeeper
wishing it was forever that I could stay
but now home is where I must make my way.
Climbing up inclines so tall,
treading carefully as not to fall
emerging from the depths
taking several deep breaths
I make my way to the surface
the thought of leaving makes me nervous.
As I stand at the cave’s entrance
Nodding my head
until next time
my good friend.
Cave Song
by Neveah Bradford
Soft whistling
Bats perched on the ceiling
Tears of the caves
Dripping and echoing
Gentle lapping water
Across rocking shores
Glowing mushrooms and
Glowing worms
Stalactites and stalagmites
Shuddering in place
Warm, soft breaths
Of bears who hibernate
The cave is sleeping
But very alive
And it is singing
A mournful goodbye.
