Part of my Wedding Celebrant services – based just down the road in Addingham, working regularly across the Aire and Worth Valley.
Keighley and the surrounding area offer something a little different – a mix of heritage, grit, and genuinely beautiful countryside that makes for incredibly memorable wedding days. I’ve worked across this part of Yorkshire for years, and it’s always a pleasure to bring a ceremony to life here.
It’s also extremely versatile – venues such as East Riddlesden Hall offer spaces for both weddings and funerals (and I’ve done both there), while the wild Brontë moors offer an incredible outdoor space – and yes, I’ve hiked up to the Brontë bridge for a wedding in the past as well. Epic!
There’s a character to Keighley weddings that you don’t quite get anywhere else. You’ve got the industrial heritage, the Brontë connection just up the road in Haworth, and then– almost without warning – you’re into rolling countryside and proper Yorkshire views.
Couples getting married here often come from varying social, economic, and religious backgrounds, and a celebrant ceremony is the perfect way to blend those two backgrounds together and create a ceremony as unique as the couple getting married – a ceremony that actually means something, in a place that already has a bit of soul to it.
A few venues in and around Keighley that work particularly well for celebrant-led ceremonies:
East Riddlesden Hall – a National Trust property just outside Keighley, with beautiful grounds and a real sense of history without feeling stuffy. Ideal if you want something traditional but still relaxed and personal.
The Old White Lion Hotel, Haworth – right in the heart of Haworth, surrounded by cobbled streets and Brontë country atmosphere. It’s got that cosy, historic feel that suits smaller, intimate ceremonies brilliantly.
The Fleece Inn, Haworth – a proper Yorkshire pub venue with bags of character. Great for couples who want a wedding that feels informal, lively, and full of personality rather than overly structured.
The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway – if you want something genuinely different, this is hard to beat. A heritage railway running through the valley, offering the chance for a wedding that’s not just memorable – it’s completely unique.
Brontë Country – for couples who want drama, space, and a backdrop that does half the work for you. A celebrant ceremony means you’re not tied to four walls – and this area rewards that thinking.
If you’re planning a wedding in Keighley, Haworth, or anywhere in the Worth Valley, I’d love to hear what you’ve got in mind.
